Some students (answer ): We… uhmmm nothing much!
Student A:
Someone told us there is an exhibitIon about El Greco here.
Student B: Can we go inside?
Carmen:- I
don´t think so. It’ s dark and it´s
locked .
- What can
we do, Chema?
Chema: Ok
Let´s try to get in!
Student C: But
it´s closed!
Student D:
Don´t worry about it. I have a plan to sneak it.
( A student
begins to jump over the fence, some students follow him)
(Three
students are carrying a torch, Chema remembers he has a key to open the door.)

Student E : Look! There is a painting here.
Student F: Wow! It´s beautiful!
Student G: Who´s that woman?
Student H: It´s The Ermine Dame.
Student I Was it painted by El Greco?
Student J: Yes, it was.
Student K: Who was El Greco?
Student L: He was a Greek painter. He was born in Creta. He lived in
Italy and then he came to Toledo (Spain) too.
Student M: Some people say she
was El Greco´s wife.
Student N: It´s cool!
Student O: What is she wearing?
Student P She is wearing an
ermine scarf. Uhmmm
Scene 3
(The students start walking and
they find lots of hands pictures on the wall.)
Some students: Look at all those hands!
Other students: Yeah! They are curious!
Student Q: Look! The fingers are
always in the same way. The middle fingers are always together.
Student R: Let’s copy the hands.
(Then the students behave as if they were pictures)
Scene 4
The Burial of the Nobleman of Orgaz is on
the way to the canteen.
Student S:
Look! There is another important picture here!
Student T:
What ‘s it? It ‘s The Burial of the
Nobleman of Orgaz. This is himself
and this kid is his son.
Scene 5
Now the
students are on their way to the library and they find a funny and coloured comic
story about El Greco.
We all go
upstairs and we come into a classroom where we find El Greco’s painting workshop.
Student U:
Hey, buddies! Look what I have found here.
There, El Greco is painting The Knight with his hand on his chest.
Outside the
classroom , in the corridor the students find
this portrait finished and
ornamented with a real ruff. Also there area lot of ruffs on the ceiling. When
they discover this they are fascinated.
Scene 6
(The
students describe The Knight with his
hand on his chest)
Student A: Who is this man?
Student B Everybody knows him but nobody knows his name.
That is why he is called The Knight with
his hand on his chest.
Student
C: How old is this picture?
Student
D: It’s 400
years old.
Student E: How many colours does
he use?
Student
F: He uses:
Grey for
the background
Black for
his tunic, beard, moustache and hair
White for
the hand on his chest , the ruff on his neck, his forehead and his eyes.
Student
G:.Why does he only use these colours?
Student
H: He uses light
or dark colours due to religious influence.
Student I: What do you find
interesting in it?
Student J:.The position of his hand and
fingers.
Student K: Why does he have his
hand on his chest?
Student
L: Nobody
understands why he has his hand on his chest. But hands are very important in El Greco’s paintings. In this portrait we
find the same hand as in the Expolio’s
Jesus’ hand which is in Toledo’s cathedral.
Student M: What do you think
about the man’s look?
Student
N:The
depth of the man’s look is typical of
El Greco.
Student Ñ: Why do you think this man
has a sword and a medallion?
Because he
was a sixteenth century knight.
